French Theatre - guest performance in the auditorium

Schiller Gymnasium hosting students from the Dordogne.

Together with French students, all Grade 9 classes watched a play organised by the French department during the 3. and 4. periods. The French ensemble Théâtre Paillette was the guest performer and put on the play ‘Alors en France ? !’ What made the performance special was that only two actresses played all the roles, constantly switching between different characters.
The plot is set in Paris and is told from the perspective of a German journalist who blogs about looted art and a museum guide. The school class forms an integral part of the plot and is taken by the characters through the city and to various locations, including the Louvre. Meanwhile, valuable art objects are stolen, and it is noticeable that the alleged thieves bear a strong resemblance to the two main characters. Who is actually responsible remains unclear until the end.

The play was interactive: pupils were addressed directly and involved in individual scenes. The performance was bilingual (German and French) and was complemented by music, dance and well-known French songs. The open ending left room for individual interpretations.
