On Thursday, 20 February 2025, the time had come for the showdown between the finalists of the Prix lycéen of the State of Berlin. In our LK French class this school year we had decided to judge the fate of three books that had been presented to us as candidates for the French school book prize. It was up to us students to decide which author would not only receive extensive financial support, but also which novel would be included in French lessons in the future!
After months of preparation, we dedicated ourselves to the three texts and chose Julia as the champion, who would defend our favourite book, ‘Né Pour Partir’ by Azouz Begag and Mamadou Sow, by any means necessary. Finally, the day of the decision arrived and together we travelled to Bettina-vom-Suttner-Gymnasium, where a heated debate ensued. Né Pour Partir’ emerged triumphant as the winner. Julia's analytical thinking had stood up to all her opponents. We are very proud of her.
