SESB (State Europe School Berlin) is a special type of school unique to Berlin which provides a dual language education. Two of our six classes in each year group are SESB classes. At Schiller the language combination is English and German and both languages have an equal status, with half the lessons in SESB classes being taught in English and half in German, by first language speakers. We provide an international education with a European focus.
When our students begin in year 7, they are already able to participate fully in lessons taught in both English and German. Many have attended an SESB primary school. Others have lived abroad or have an English-speaking parent. When our students graduate with their Abitur, they have reached a level where they are able to work academically and professionally in both languages.
We have teachers and students with connections to English-speaking countries all over the world and if you walk around the school, you will hear both English and German being spoken in the classrooms, corridors and in the schoolyard.
