This year, in March 2025, we had another successful visit to Babice near Prague. This time we stayed for 3 nights, which gave us lots of time to work on our sustainable architecture project. We travelled by train and slept in the dormitories of Open Gate school. It was especially nice to spend the evenings with the students who stay in the dormitories themselves.
On the first day we visited Kutna Hora and looked at traditional Czech architecture, as well as the famous bone church. This was followed by an evening workshop on sustainable living in the future.

The next day we spent the day in Prague. It was rather wet and there was even snow on the ground when we got back to the school, higher in the hills. Nevertheless, we had lots of fun exploring the old city, looking at places of architectural significance and visiting the national museum. The most important aspect was spending time with our Czech friends.
In between the excursions and in a workshop on Friday morning, everyone was working on their group challenge to design a sustainable building and a poster portraying this.

The groups completed this task through meeting online, after we returned to Berlin.

We are looking forward to the next stage of the project, when Czech friends and project partners come to visit Berlin in the Autumn.

The project was financed by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme.
