Viel Erfolg bei den Prüfungen im Abitur 2024
SESB at Schiller-Gymnasium
SESB at Schiller-Gymnasium

The SESB embodies the European values of democracy, diversity and self-determination.  The international nature of Berlin is reflected at Schiller where you will experience English and German in  the classroom, corridors and the schoolyard.

The State European School Berlin (SESB) at Schiller began in the summer of 1999 with the first seventh-grade class. One grade was added each year; the first Abitur was awarded to the Class of 2006 after completion of the 13th grade. Now pupils take their Abitur at the end of 12th grade.  We have been officially granted the status of Schule mit einer besonderen Prägung, which means we have a special legal status requiring us to use English and German as equal academic languages. Our pupils have the opportunity to analyse, discuss and debate complex issues routinely in both languages.

Half of the pupils and teachers in the SESB are first language English speakers, and the subjects Biology, English, Geography, History, Music and Politics are taught in English. Every other subject is taught in German.

In 2016 we were evaluated with excellent results in the Europa-Studie, conducted by the University of Kiel focussing on the  State European Schools in Berlin.   Schiller-Gymnasium was particularly successful, both academically  and in promoting intercultural competency.
