On February 12, 2025, Schiller Gymnasium hosted a high-profile panel discussion on the upcoming federal election. The event, titled "Germany Votes: State and Future of Our Democracy", was aimed at 11th and 12th-grade students and was organized and moderated by the school's AG Politics group. The goal was to provide students with an opportunity to engage directly with current political issues and gain insight into the positions of various parties.

After a welcome speech by the school administration, the student representative, and members of AG Politics, the six invited politicians were introduced. The panel featured Lukas Krieger (CDU), Michael Müller (SPD), Federal Minister Lisa Paus (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), Christoph Meyer (FDP), Frederike-Sophie Gronde-Brunner (Die Linke), and Manaf Hassan (Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht). This broad political spectrum enabled a diverse and controversial discussion.
At the beginning of the event, students voted on the two main topics of debate: foreign and security policy, as well as migration and domestic policy. During the discussion, the politicians shared their views on key issues in these areas, including Germany’s role in international conflicts, the European security framework, and current challenges in migration policy. The moderation by AG Politics ensured a well-structured and dynamic debate, highlighting different perspectives on these pressing issues.

Following the debate, students had the opportunity to raise their own concerns in an open Q&A session. Topics included the war in Ukraine, arms deliveries, and the financing of campaign promises. The politicians responded to these questions, sometimes controversially, leading to an engaging exchange between students and panelists.
The panel discussion provided a valuable opportunity to experience democracy firsthand and gain a better understanding of political decision-making processes. It underscored the importance of actively engaging with political issues—especially in light of the upcoming election.
