Students from the advanced Political Science course simulate the European Parliament

On 21 and 22 November, students from Mr Eberhard’s advanced Political Science course took part in the simulation “SIMEP – Simulation of the European Parliament” at the Berlin House of Representatives. Organised by JEF Berlin-Brandenburg e. V., the simulation offered students the opportunity to experience European-level political decision-making first-hand.

In committees and parliamentary groups, the participants worked intensively on two current key issues in European politics: the future of the transatlantic partnership and the regulation and role of social media in the European Union. In both areas, the students developed positions, negotiated compromises, and then presented their results in the plenary debate.

The two days at the House of Representatives gave the participants an impressive insight into the complexity of parliamentary procedures and European politics.
